Yahoo driving directions is relatively new to net users searching for driving directions to any specific route. Recently, I’ve been introduced to this interesting Yahoo feature and ever since this driving direction has been extremely useful to me in finding a particular route and addresses. When anyone try to find a driving directions, the first question comes in one’s mind is how to find direction between two places. To get driving directions in Yahoo, you need to go Yahoo Maps.

How to find Driving directions between two addresses

For finding any driving directions, at first enter your source and destination address between the “get maps in the direction “section, top-left corner of Yahoo map. This section has entry boxes called A and B. In box A enter your source address and in box B enter your destination address. Since, it is not possible to include all the places on earth in a Map database, so you may not find a particular address if it is not in Yahoo database.

In that case you can do a broad direction search... for instance, if you plan to find a driving direction from a place of London to Manchester and you put the street address of both the places in box A and B of Yahoo Map, but no result. Then you can try a broad search by typing the city name London in box ‘A’ and Manchester in box ‘B’ and click the ‘go’. You will find a detailed router map marked with violet color specifying both the city names. Just below the address search boxes you will also find the total estimated distance between the two locations along with approximate travel time.

In addition, if you want to take additional stoppages to your travel route, you can add new location address just below the box B. Once you get a detail map you can customize it by zooming in and out to fit to see the best view of the route. More or less, this Yahoo driving direction is very similar to Google driving direction. Thus, if you are familiar with Google driving direction, it will take a few minutes to you to become accustomed to Yahoo maps

Finding traffic condition in Yahoo driving directions.

To get current traffic statistics in Yahoo maps, at first you have to get a map or driving directions by entering source and destination addresses in the search box- exactly the way you get driving directions as mentioned previously. When your driving map appears on the right side of the Yahoo map screen, in the top bar of the map you have to click “live traffic”. After selection live traffic option, on the map you will see all important roads with live traffic information, highlighted with green, yellow and red colors- these colors are according to the real life traffic conditions schemes, the red is the highest trafficked route, then comes, yellow and green is the least trafficked route. If you see any triangles with exclamination marks, it indicates accidents on that route.

To select a low congested traffic route, you need to click on the purple color path indicating your driving route and then drag it to the low trafficked routed on your driving map.

You will see a drop-down list, which will let you save your current Map: take you mouse on the ‘save’ and just click to save the current map. Mapping an Address

For mapping any address in Canada or UK, you have to type your street address with city and state name or ZIP. After that click the “Go” button to get your complete driving map. For instance your address is 300 East Street Los Angeles, CA 92202. Then you can type in the Yahoo search box the following ways:

300 East Street Los Angeles, CA 92202 or East Street Los Angeles, CA 92202 or Los Angeles, CA or 92202, only the ZIP

What if the driving directions are wrong?

There is a possibility that you will get inaccurate driving directions to destination and it mainly happens due to wrong data input the search box. When you enter your address in search box try to use the format as described in the “mapping an address” section of this hub. The probable reason of wrong driving information can be:

  • If you provide wrong address input in the Yahoo Map
  • It may happen if Yahoo routing database has incorrect entry of geocode for your locations.
  • Also, if Yahoo database does not have any reference number for any of your two entered addresses.

It is better to enter each address separately into Yahoo map to check if they are correctly found in map. Once you confirm that each address is available with Yahoo, and then put both the address together to make your driving directions. In case you find problem making your driving route map, you can contact Yahoo about your problems. Contact info is available in Yahoo map page.

How reliable the driving directions data are?

Reliability of a driving map is most important, because with the wrong driving direction you will lose both money and time. So, only can assume that you driving route data are reliable and correct if you find each of your locations by searching them separately in map. Normally, yahoo collect driving directions form a number of sources and then process all the data in their central data processing servers to make driving data available to you as you find it in Yahoo Map search box by using. All the raw data are collected from Navteq and real time traffic info is from TrafficCast. Apart from these two major data providers Yahoo use some regional and international map provider’s data to make Yahoo driving direction as correct as cent percent. Yet, if you notice any discrepancy in their data, you are always welcome to notify them via Yahoo maps feedback page.
