“We Will Rock You” was not an instant hit after its release, gradually it become like an anthem of youthfulness.
Why this song is so unique
Only the last 30 seconds of this song has a solo guitar work, performed by May, otherwise the entire song is filled with the rhythm of clapping and stamping. The real attraction of this song is the stamping effects and this stamping effect was created by stomping and clapping by the band and then delay effects was added to give a feel like many people are stamping in unison. Interesting the delay time of the stamping was created by following the ratios of the prime numbers in order to give a feel of non-harmonic echo.
Queen also performed this famous number “we will rock you” in a fast track version. During the late 70s and early 80s they used to start their live concert with the fast version of this song. This fast version was also recorded in 1977 for a BBC radio show. Finally in 2004, the fast version of was officially released.
