And the good news is that the majority of these books can be download to your kindle for free or with little price. As of September 2011, the number of Kindle books found in Amazon.com is 754,385 and this number is increasing. Besides Amazon main site and its other local sites, there are a number of websites that offer kindle version of ebook, which are both legal and free. One of such site is project Gutenberg.
How to find Kindle books in Amazon?
Not all Amazon books have their kindle edition. To make sure if a book has it kindle version available, go to the amazon.com or the local Amazon site(if you live in UK go to amazon.co.uk).The easiest way to find the local site is to go to the main Amazon site and then select the country of your residence. And then you need to follow the steps given below:
1. On the top-left of the site you will see a section “shop all departments.” – Under this section there is the category for books. Click on the “books.”
2. Now click on the “kindle books.”
3. Type the name of the book that you need to download for your kindle.
4. If you want to see the list of free kindle books, then you have to type these terms in the search box. Next, you have to type the name of the book that you want read for free. If your book does not appear, then you may have to pay for the kindle version of those books.

Read Kindle Books without Buying a Kindle
To read Amazon kindle books it is not necessary that you have to have a kindle at your hand despite that fact that having a kindle have many benefits. For reading a kindle book you have to download a kindle app, and this app can be downloaded on your computer or iPhone. To install kindle software in your PC:
1. Go at kindle for PC page and then click on download button. This version of kindle app works with Windows XP, Vista and 7.
2. Logon to your kindle software on your PC. For this you need to use your Amazon logon it. If have not any Amazon id then create one and use that id to logon to your kindle app on your PC.
3. Next go to the kindle books page on Amazon and search for a book. To find the to kindle books page and search for a kindle book. For example you are searching for the book entitled: “The Heart of Abundance: A Simple Guide to Appreciating and Enjoying Life”; just type this name and when the book appears click on “buy”. Remember by clicking on the buy button you are not paying anything for that book. It is the process to add this book to your kindle software on your PC. Finally click on “buy now with 1 click” to deliver this ebook to your PC.
4. And then log-on to your kindle app on your PC and then click on “sync for check and new items” from the “Tools” menu.
Remember that there are some kindle books that you need to pay for to read it in your e-reader. To learn if an ebook is free, you have to check the “kindle price: 0”; if it is not zero then you have to pay for that ebook to get its kindle edition.

I have almost exclusively switched to Kindle books. I read them on my ITouch. The ease of having over 100 books in my small apparatus makes readig easier and more convenient. They say that Kindle has outsold all paperbound Amazon books sold. That is amazing and frightening. The publishing business has taken a slam since wireless reading has become so universal. Newspapers are almost dinosaurs - which is also two sided. I love books, the feel the smell, the texture - but I also love the ease of technology.
Useful hub :) I was thinking about getting a Kindle for myself - I'll probably have it some time in the future. Until then, it's good to know that I can download a kindle app and read Kindle books on my computer. I'm actually a paper book fan, but good books cost a lot (if you want to buy and read tons of them like me) and Kindle books seem like an economical solution.
